Touché is a two year old indian ringneck given up by his first owner because his owner was ready to move on from birds, and did not like him. I have 3 months to make Touché a bird that someone wants to adopt to their forever home. Adopt a bird in need via https://roniesloveofbirds.com/ which is where I got Touche. Many more birds are in need!

Had my ring neck at 12 months old about 3 weeks ago now seems comfortable but I can’t get closer than a foot towards her and she just flys off won’t take food from my hand and won’t let me touch her is
I know this video is 3 y old but I answer anyway 😀
After 2 wild badgies who have been pretty annoying to be tamed and have close (my gf purchased hem from the first seller ignoring they were totally unconfortable with any human environment so much that they ended up attacking each other and had to separate them and who eventually found the way to fly away, I decided to trust a local parrot raiser and purchased a more expensive (kinda 250€) cub of lutino ringneck.
He/she's ADORABLE…still not sure about the gender (and I'll refer to it as he now) but I don't care to tear off a tail-feather to test it. He'd spend the entire day with me and I try as much as I can as I work from home.
Since he was 1 month old when he came home, I had to feed him with syringe for kinda 10 days before he was able of eating by himself seeds, dried fruits and so on….
He's one of the sweetest thingy I've seen also cause he's so emotional and kinda choosy on "who talk to" as he "talks" (having less than 2 months he just emits some sounds) to me as I fed him when he was cub and not talking to my gf, even if we live together :D.
Send Touche to India 🙂 That is where he belongs 🙂
In answer to your question 2 yrs ago. It might of helped if you played with him. They love to play peekaboo, which is why he loved training. They love toys and puzzles and they love that they make you happy. When being held from a baby on they want to be on you. They are very social with everyone that will play peekaboo with them. They don't just say it.. they love the whole game. Hiding and popping up. They are fun
I bonded with one I the pet store I go to. She was expensive and I put it off for almost 8 months. But that is my bird. So I put a deposit and visit her every day until til I can take her home. I can’t wait 🎉
HELPP my parrot is 3 years old I got him a few weeks ago he isn’t tame and I can’t touch him at all how can I speed this process up
The day I bought my Indian ringneck he was letting me pet him, and I was putting him on my head, but guess what his old owners were abusive
I admire your work, best luck and wishes as always, I'm am impatient, so I forcefully grabbed the bird while he is trying to bite me, and put him on my shoulder, have small wings he had no option but to get along wit me, lol
I got my Indian ring neck from another person that didn’t want her anymore because 1)she wasn’t talking & 2)too much to handle with a cockatoo. so I took this bird in,training her to me is little slow, but otherwise she’s sweet bird & she’s as vocal as portrayed to me. dumpling trusts me enough to take a bite of banana & most weekends I’ll sit with her and my other birds and pass the banana around taking bites.
I got my Ring neck several months ago and she’s so sweet but so shy! She never bites and will step up but not want to stay on you and fly away soon after she’s gets on me. She likes to be near and watch us and get close but not want to sit on us. With my other birds it’s was so easy bc they love food and treats but she will not eat from you or even eat out of her bowl if you watch her. Most difficult bird I’ve ever owned shes very tricky! I want her to like me so bad!
I wanted one for cuddles but she's afraid of me got her yesterday
My 5 month old IRN. Loves toBITE he was supposed to be hand fed but I don’t think he was!
I have clicker tamed him as y’all taught us
But after he follows the stick, I click if he gently nips it, then give him a pine nut. He will gab the nut then quickly bite my hand. “Grrrr”.
I wanted this kind of bird so I could cuddle him and teach him tricks
( cuddle? NEVER!) he’s a real hand full
He wants nothing to do with stepping up, so I don’t push it. Any way I love all your training videos y’all have been very helpful 😅
What else can I do to improve My training with this crazy IRN
I let him out everyday . His cage is next to my couch so sometimes h he will come to me, walk and poop all over me while he makes it to my face to BITE My eyes.
He says “I’m a pickle,”OuCH, give mommy a kiss” I’m a good boy”. Thank you baby”. And more but his biting all the time makes me want to rip his feathers out🥴(?I won’t but I tell him I’m going to !)
😅
What's have you found to be good treats for the stick training?
I remember being 9y.o little girl who watched RIO all the time, i was admiring the beauty and glory of them. Now 10 years later i got my first parrot Koko, who is a ringneck parrot. He has gone through 1 owner and a bird breeder before i got him. He lived with his first owner for 2.5 years, who never let him out, didn’t give him any fruit only seeds and the owner was never home, myb once a week. He was in his cage all the time, dog barking next to him. Owners friend came from time to time to change water, put more seeds and to take the dog on a walk. He was never trained to be on the hand or anything, he was just a pretty exotic bird for his first person. Fast forward the owner sold him to a bird breeder and they were very kind to him, for the first time in his life he could come out of his cage, he got fruit and everything he needed. There were other parrots too so he also had company. I visited him for couple of times, first time i saw him i was just drawn to him. Every time i visited i tried to get closer and give him fruits, but he would just fly away. Once again fast forward i got him for my birthday. Few days later we got him a friend, also a ringneck parrot, we don’t know the gender yet since the other one is 5 months old. They get along very well, if we leave out few times they have fought for a toy or a food. Koko has been here for 2 weeks now and he is a lot calmer. Before he would start screaming when i was within >1m radius, but now sometimes i can change the food/drink bowl without him making a noise. Eventhough he let’s me this near outside of the cage he doesn’t let me super near and it’s quite sad because i really want to teach him tricks and everything. I know it takes time and it’s okay, i’m willing to wait.
I wanted to ask a little help though. How can i get him to trust me? Rn i’m spending time next to their cage everyday watching them and movies. I try to give them food by hand, if they dont take i just put it on cage and stand there.
It is not that Koko doesn’t like socializing, i think he is just scared of me. Because when i go somewhere for a long time he lands on the door and searches for me. And when i try to do powernap on the sofa then he lands on chair, looks at me and does some kind of whining sound to wake me up.
If you read this and have any suggestions for me then you are more than welcome to reply, i would be very thankful.
I feel like I got very lucky with my IRN. I got her as a spur of the moment, no thought into research or being a bird owner (which is bad I know but she picked me) so it’s been a journey. I got her at about 4 weeks old and she is 16 now. Bluffing was a horrendous stage but once we got past that, she is the most chill, funny and sweetest girl. She lets me do whatever with her since I am her person like roll her over and tickle her tummy. She likes to cuddle and kiss allllll the time and just be with me and do whatever I am doing. The avian vet also said they have not met an IRN like her, not screechy, bitey or skittish. She is super chill. I do focus on keeping her well socialised since she has imprinted on me hard. And unfortunately she spends a lot of time at the bird sitters due to my work but she really likes it, loves car rides and with her own cage there and playing and talking with other birds. I will not get another bird due to their lifespan as I never want to rehome a bird after seeing how they imprint but my IRN was the best impulse purchase ever for the endless love and laughter she gives me.
@BirdTricks Please suggest a sleeping perch size for indian ringneck parrot…what should be the diameter for sleeping purpose as he has got the pressure sore feet now…n m so scared…plz suggest urgency😢😢😢
Indian ringnecks are tough in the beginning.
Okay, so… I wanted an Indian ringneck for a while because of the videos I saw online of their bubbly silly character. All the ones I watch love their owners, give kisses, will sit on hands etc. Mine 100% is NOT like that. He hates hands so much! He will eat from my hand, but that's it. I tried to stick train but he's even more petrified of sticks!!! I've now had him for 6 years, he is getting better qith my hands being near him, slowly thankfully
My brother wanted a bird, so we got an Indian ringneck, his name is Clover is mischievous and he poops everywhere. He also makes a lot of noises when he wants to get out of his crate. He loves kisses and he’s very hard to get in his crate. He’s also very talkative and timid. He also makes a mess when we give him some food out of his crate.
I have two Indian ringnecks their spoilt rotten their an amazing bird to own very talkative their deferentially worth the time and affort to tame and their quick to pick up on stuff and they make the cutest noise ❤
Any chance for a link of that perch stand in your bedroom please?
This is my new girl …. She’s so young and the 3 previous homes,… we are her 4 th home …. She has trust issues. I am learning so much from your videos. She isn’t motivated by treats though…..l what do I do…..
We got ours for looks and hopes he talks . So far, yes, it feels comfortable enough to get close, won't let us touch him, or hold him. It's only been a few months so far. The best thing has been feeding and watching him enjoy veggies, fruits, and salads , he looks super cute eating.
I have a Indian ring neck and i want to know why he is so aggressive?
what device are you using to train your parrot? I recently got a pair of ringnecks(male and female) as a surprise gift from my dad and i want to teach them to step up on my hand. But as this is my first time with pets and bird pets i have no idea what to do. everytime i try to get them on my hand they just simply bite the crap out of me. I need to know how this works, pleaseeee heeelp!
I really enjoy a challenge and that's the truth. I knew she would take a tonnnnn of work but, same thing with my Rottweiler – different methods. TY for all the help!!!
Hello, I bought a female indian ringneck she will be 3 months old on the 17th of this month I’ve only had her for 5 days I’ve been trying to gain her trust but it doesn’t seem to be working I talk to her give her treats sit by her and nothing I have also tried to put my hand near her and she freaks out the only thing she wants to do is be on her perch outside of the cage please help
I watched your training video. You are interested in why I got a ringneck parrot. I wanted a beautiful and friendly baby that was hand feed. He is 4 months old and I got him 3 weeks ago. Well he is like a wild child. Seems he is scared of me when I am with him. I let him out of his house / cage, and he gets as far from me as possible. I want him to be OK around me. So I am watching any videos that will help.
Thanks so much
Just got a rescue IRN… she likes to step up … but don't touch her 😅
She's very fighty
u say it so easy get a click and stick and a treat and mine has 3 month and it does not pay any atentiton to treats
